Run for children in Venezuela
Let us run or walk to Venezuela, collectively!
During 2022 I am activating people to raise funds to provide health care to children and families in Venezuela. On a monthly basis I arrange recurring fundraising events where we together run or walk as far as we can.
My goal is that we during 2022 collectively will travel all the way from Stockholm to Maniapure, Venezuela, about 9.000 km away. It is to the small village of Maniapure that the non-profit organisation I Love Venezuela Sweden raises funds for basic health care to local and indigenous children and families in need. My wife is the general secretary of this organisation.
117 km covered so far. We have a long way to go, but nothing is impossible. We are planning a bigger running event later in the spring and talks are also to arrange an event together with a school later this spring.

Option to run/walk anywhere
If you cannot attend a specific event date, you can register your participation and run or walk at a place of your own choice. Select this option during registration process and report back the distance your ran/walked to christian@targetaid.com.
Why I do this
I have followed the development in Venezuela for over 20 years now and it has been, and still is, a heartbreaking journey. Milions have been forced to emigrate, while many of those who cannot leave the country are suffering every day and in many ways struggling to survive. There is a lack of food, medicine and basic health care, which we here in Sweden often take for granted.
As you may know my wife is from Venezuela and her family as well as some of her relatives and friends are is still in Venezuela. One way for me to help the people of Venezuela is to arrange these fundraising events.
Let's join forces and make a contribution to support Venezuelan children and families in need of basic health care.
The NGOs supported with the funds raised provide quality care to more than 10.000 people, mainly in the indigenous population of Eñepá in the remote region of Maniapure in the state of Bolivar, Venezuela.

In total we have covered 236 km so far through the two events and my personal running between the events. We are far from target, but bigger events are in the planning, so our target still remains :)
44 km covered at the 2:nd event at Ursviks Motionsområde
Due to sickness we had only 3 people participation on the 2:nd event, one remotely. Nevertheless we covered 44 km.
93 km covered during the first event at the Älta Lake
Nine people participated at the first event. Seven were present at the Älta lake and two ran on other locations. Unfortunately we had three cancellations due to covid-19. In total we covered 93 km. Together with some ad hoc running sessions we have now collectively covered 117 km.
